2009 Music Rally Winners Honored

The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board on Thursday recognized those high school students who recently won awards at the District and State Music rallies.
All the winning students are from East St. John High. 

The following students received and “Excellent Rating” at the District Music Rally:

  • Meagan Boudoin for “Summertime” by Billie Holiday.
  • Flor Nova for “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion.
  • Jade Johnson for “The Sound of Music” from the musical “The Sound of Music.”
  • Zoe Joseph for “Sunrise, Sunset” from the Broadway play “Fiddler on the Roof.”
  • Tamara Early for “Star Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key

The following students rated “Superior” at the District Music Rally and they competed at the State Music Rally at LSU:

  • Crystal Turley for “At Last” by Etta James
  • Nardia White for “At Last” by Etta James
  • Thurston Sylve for “Star Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key

Jamal Morris, a freshman, receive a Superior Rating and 1st place at the Dsitrict Level for his rendition of “God Bless the Child” by Billie Holiday.
